AWA at Isle of Gigha Primary School

AWA’s Spring workshops will introduce students aged 5 - 11 to key concepts in Ecoliteracy through placed based learning adventures.

Part one of our workshops series focused on introducing the process of decomposition to students through a costal Litter Hunt and a group drawing session.

Whilst the Litter Hunt invited students to take part in an environmental action and consider what litter is and where litter comes from, our post action workshop session offered the opportunity for students to consider the differences between natural and human made materials, the process through which they decay and the relationship between materials and the rate at which they decompose. Students built skills in drawing, measuring and recording through close examination of their findings.

This workshop was inspired by the Earth Charter and was facilitated in partnership with the Isle of Gigha Primary School.  To find out more about our current workshops and our 2017 Learning Programme visit our learning page
